After the death of his father in late 2019, EarthWell Foods founder, Craig Martin Canedy, was tasked with the priviledge of taking over Worldwide Food Sales, Inc.- a small food brokerage firm which Calvin G. Canedy Sr., Craig’s father, had built with his associate Joe Dunn for more than a decade. Immediately after flying home from a food conference in February of 2020 (where Craig met with most of the Worldwide Food Sales, Inc. clientele face to face for the first time), the world went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the course of the next few years, Craig observed the many issues within industry and the supply chain that were being exposed through the pandemic and aftermath. It was during this time that the vision for EarthWell Foods began to gestate.
Craig dedicated himself from that time forward to investigate and explore all aspects related to sustainability within the food industry. Getting to know small startup organizations as well as large scale commercial operations and everything in between, Craig sought out solutions and possibilities for the future.
“You are what you eat”, as the saying goes. And what is eaten is of the Earth. If the planet is diminished in the process of food cultivation, manufacturing, delivery, and storage, then the true quality of health related with that food is also diminished. There is no separation.
Individual, family, and community health is related intimately with planetary health. It is as essential for industrial systems that produce, package, and transport food to be healthy as it is for the parts of the cardiovascular system of the body to be healthy carrying blood and oxygen.
EarthWell Foods considers scale and implementation. We work with large already existing organizations in order to transpose operations necessarily into more sustainable realities. We also work with small seed organizations just starting in order to facilitate what is necessary to be sustainable moving forward…and every scale size in between.
On the ground, we provide consultation necessary for farms to implement and transition towards sustainability and regenerative practices while also maintaining standards, certifications, and ongoing data collection. We make this profitable for the farmer by resourcing the most advanced and up to date technologies, applications, and methods. From permaculture and food forests to precision farming and agrovoltaics, we employ the knowledge and resources to get the best results in production and financial return, as well as land stewardship and soil health.
We work with producers and manufacturers to assure that the highest quality and standard is maintained, while also making considerations for energetic efficiency, use of resources, cleanliness of water, quality of working conditions, and fair-trade practices.
The consideration of impact is assessed at every level; prioritizing harmonic sustainable regard for nature and all relations. Packaging materials, inks, and processing are evaluated thoroughly to assure sustainable outcomes at every stage with an emphasis upon compostability, 100% recyclable, and sustainable sourcing.

Our logistics partners are the most sustainable on the planet, and we are constantly working to integrate and design methods of tracking and assuring sustainable practices with trucking transport, ocean freight, and route mapping. Proximity is a priority identifier within our logistics framework. We identify the most streamlined logistics strategy with the least food miles possible. Sustainable fuel sources and energy efficiency is a requisite.
